Collegiata si SANTA MARIA ASSUNTA - SANTUARIO DEI SANTI MARTIRI PELLEGRINO ED ALBERICO
Founded on the ancient walls of the church of the twelfth century, the current Collegiata di Santa Maria Assunta church dates back to the eighteenth century, and it is a place where the relics of San Pellegrino (a martyr of the second century) are kept, and where the Beato Alberigo Crescitelli of Altavilla is venerated. In 2003 Collegiata Church changed its name in Sanctuary dedicated to the martyrs Pellegrino and Alberico. The sacred bones of San Pellegrino,incorporated into his statue, has been placed in a privileged altar. In honor of San Pellegrino, evey year Altavilla organizes solemn celebrations on 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th of August that attract thousands of believers from all over Campania. In the floor below the church, there are various ex-voto and numerous certificates of gratitude for the graces received by the believers.
