Grotta di San Michele
This place is a proof of the Lombardic period and today represents a place of worship. The cave, hermitage of San Michele, runs for about 50 m. inside the mount, where pieces of frescoes are still visible. On May 8, there is an important historical reconstruction of the “Opera di San Michele” (San Michele deeds) which tells (with music and verses) how the Saint banished the rebel angels from Heaven. Locals take part to the performance, dressed as angels and demons. The cave is a pilgrimage destination and has been included in the Jubilee sacred itineraries.
