Fontana del
Located in Massari-Tonzone at the foot of Mount Palate. Even before 1551 there was a fountain near the headwaters of the Contrada Fredane, mentioned by Charles V statutes as a “site to be protected". For centuries the fountain poured water into a large clay tub called "Tonzone" used for the nearby mill, as well as for laundry and watering. After the earthquake of 1980 for health and hygiene reasons and the public interest, the communities of Guardia and Sant'Angelo, decided to restore the fountain. Now the fountain consisted of four "cannoli", the wash place and a fountain with two "cannoli" powered by a second source with drinking trough. In the 90s the second fountain was demolished, the remaining one is not used, the water is not drinkable and the surrounding area has been abandoned.
