Porte Saint Nicolas
This gate dates back to the eighteenth century and is the only vestige of the early fortifications. The squared building is flanked by two towers rebuilt in the sixteenth century. It was used as a location for the judicial hearings of the Justice of Peace, but in 1838 it became a prison and later it was turned into the Town Hall. In front of the door lies a bridge with three arches over the ditches to replace the drawbridge. The walls adjacent to the door were demolished around 1712. Today, this building hosts paintings and sculpture exhibitions as well as other cultural activities.
